We woke up twice this morning. Since Naya woke up early, so did we. So delerious, after helping out Naya to find her glasses, we passed out. Cloudy day in San Francisco, we were able to do many things in the morning. We went to Trader Joe for some grocery. The home state's store is bigger and have more variety. Everybody was so nice in the store, very homey. We headed down to the ROSS, it wasn't opened yet, so we decided to get breakfast at the cafe in the Asian district. Wow, again people were nice there, endowed Indonesian and Filipino girls were interested in our stories that questions flew one after another. We enjoyed the cafe and its Quiche, thanks ladies!! ROSS shopping is almost never short; there are so many good cheap stuff that extra bucks can go quickly and easily. Hats and shirts, a pair of jeans for Jesse, took us 90 min. . . hmm... OK, so we took off to the quest for delicious famous wine in Sonoma and Napa.
Wow, my Dad would love this trip. First place we stopped was Viansa. Wow, two limos, a big coach bus, and many luxurious cars and SUV's. People were wearing nice clothes, Jesse wore sleeveless with short pants, I wore pajama pants with t-shirt. Even though how much we felt underdressed, they let us in. Beautiful gardens, a jazz band, reception area with multiple lane of baci balls. We strolled into a wine and gourmet cheese and pastries. Wow, I felt like we were surrounded by celebrities. Everybody is up to the level, yes rich and educated, this must be how high class people might enjoy their weekend. Jesse and I decided on the wine to buy and left the place with "wow." It was a gorgeous place with gorgeous people like a scene from a typical movie.
Now Jesse knew what exactly he wanted to see next: an old small family-style winery in the country side. We used his image of perfect winery for the next stop going through the back roads in Napa and Sonoma. As we were giving up on finding Jesse's dream winery, Nichelini Winery sign came up with est 1890. "This is it!!" We both jumped out of the car, and ran into the dream land. Only a half dozen people with two staff on the old wooden bar, big enough to serve 8 the most. Shades and modest water fountain made with oak barrel invited the guest. Wines that they served were phenomenal and tasty. Only those two words came to an inexperienced wine drinker, but wines were wonderful!! Moscoe desert wine stood out for me, whew, that sweet wine can put me to sleep. Jesse and I were convinced on the wine, 99' Zinfendel: creamy texture with hesitant and shy at first taste, then what good wine must taste like (in my imagination) comes in to fill my senses. Jesse looked overwhelmingly content, I was simply surprised about this discovery. Good job!! Jesse.
Lunch took place in the picnic area of the estate with folks staying at the B & B playing baci balls. This scene could be also in some documentary like "secret winery of Napa: Family style" by Discovery channel. It was so special and so delicious, Jesse bought a case of Zinfedel!! Exubelented by the winery and its wines, we jetted through the I-5. But on the way, we witnessed manifestation of self-pleasing (Jesse explained that every masturbation results in the death of butterfly) somewhere in the planet: butterflies' massive grave yard. Yellow butterflies were flying across the I-5, we took more than hundred, sorry.
After changing a driver, we got to Lassen National Park earlier than expected. It seemed low key like Great Basin, but with more people. Camping by the entrance was pretty good. #18 was right by the huge tree trunk and isolated as well as close access to the parking lot. Jesse prepared the hot dogs for us while I wrote the journal. Such a great day, we ended with a sinful hot chocolate with orange liquor.
