We woke up with no haste. Today is an easy day. We decided to clean up our very good working Subaru to show some appreciation. Vacuuming, scrubbing the interior, and shining the glass, wow, this car must be happy. Jesse's Mom made good pancake, it was tasty without the ingredient of flour. We each organized backpacks and thoughts about how we are going to spend rest of three nights.
I expressed the interest of getting to the Ozette for costal trail hiking. After the turkey bagel lunch, we decided to take the hike. We both were a bit quiet; tired from sleeping too well in the real bed. Right before we were about to leave the town, Roberta called to say hi. She is a beautiful researcher from Italy who knows Jesse very well and knows me a bit. We told here about our exciting trip, which prompted us to talk about how our trip to White Sand National Monument and Carlsbad Cavern National Park. Such a magical trip it was. . . team of six, Erin, Helena, Roberta, Kush, Jesse, and I got along super-grewly like epoxy, well, you know what I mean. That trip was a pivotal moment for my social life in Santa Fe; nothing much existed before, supernova happened afterward without shrinkage. So you can tell how tiny my astronomical knowledge is, but that is not my point. It is that I started to like Santa Fe and became excited about the town!! Wow, such a difference it made. . . back to the road. . . Jesse was having a great time driving the whirly coastal road. Suddenly we saw the beach right next to us; we had to stop. Picking up rock, examining and observing then threw them to the wave, we wanted to spend more time, but the time was running out.
The Ozette was far. It took us more time that we thought. So, we decided to fast-walk the whole 6 miles round trip. Even though we rushed through the overwhelmingly green forest, we came across many fun vegie creature. A tree growing on top of the dead laying tree, hence, one of main roots was penetrating into the center of base root of fallen tree like sucking the nutrient out of dead caucus it found. Hugging trees, huge trees, and orgyish tree, wow, variety of imagination could be popped here. It would be great for artists to be here. Board walk was a perfect set up for our quick hike, we finished 3 miles in 45 minutes, not too bad.
"Hey wow!" was our exclamation. Bright misty sky with occasional island popping along the shallow coast welcomed us as we left the dense green forest. We walked on the coast for a bit to see what this place offered: Wild animals, great stretch of beach with rocks in meeting points of each beach, and imagination of humangous whale jumping out of water. Untouched and serense, this place gave me a feeling of discovering it for the first time in the human history. "Snap, pip, pip, snap," digital cameras found a good match for today.
On the way back, I dashed Subaru back to the house to attemp to eat dinner with Jesse's Mom. Passing through exciting signs like "King Salmon 4 dollars per lbs," "land slides," and expired "Olympic Penninsula Jazz Festival," we got there in time with our salsa music jamming. She was just finishing up amazing home made salsa and grill alumninum folied salmon. Great timing!! We told her about our Ozette hiking and Jesse's famous promise to go back there. I don't know how many of them he's got. We got ready packing foods, gear, and, hot chocolate with Limoncelo. We are ready!!
